New TV spot for Tintin
Funny, I was barely looking forward to this movie half a year ago and now I’m a total nutcase about it, can’t wait to see it again on the DVD, but it’s three months away ;_;

This music inspired me to this little fanart )

So I wanted to watch Tintin in cinema for the third time but my plans were foiled, experiencing slight withdrawal symptoms, good things there’s a new US teaser with the usual annoying narrator but I loved seeing some of my favourite scenes in there.

So I went to see Tintin again today and loved it even more, a few things that caught my interest this time: *spoilers*
-Tintin is apparently very strict about not taking any visitors after bed time … and also doesn’t really want to see Haddock with his pants down … lolz @ Moffat & co
-They really had fun with Sakharine’s surname, the Milanese Nightingale diva Bianca Castafiore calls him Monsieur Sugar.. Additive , also Haddock refers to him as the sour looking man with the sugary name
-Haddock has pinups in his room on the ship, which is entirely appropriate I guess
-BEST PIRATE SEA BATTLE EVAH … also loved how Haddock and Sakharine are both pretty much reincarnations of their ancestors. Red Rackham curses Haddock and says they will meet in a different land and in a different time. Sakharine entering Haddock’s ship on a broken crane pretty much mirrors Red Rackham’s first appearance in the movie.
-If Haddock is a an alcoholic then Sakharine must have been snorting coke all his life, seriously how can you even come up with an evil masterplan of stealing a valuable artefact secured in a bullet proof glass by using an opera diva and a trained falcon?
-Love how Nestor looks identical to his 17th century counterpart
-The music works beautifully in the movie, you can hear the score in pretty much every scene and it really helps setting up the general tone, I’m not sure if this is the main theme but I love the adventurous tune you can hear on the Escape From the Karaboudjan track.
-Loved the Jaws reference with the bit of Tintin’s hair sticking out of the water
-The pilots of the yellow sea plane seem to have a slightly German accent, Sakharine also changes his accent to French when he’s acting as Bianca’s escort.
-So they are not doing The Seven Crystal Balls/Prisoners of the Sun next, I place my bet on bits of Red Rackham’s treasure mixed with the Calculus Affair
-I watched the move twice now and still don’t get the bit with the random runway tank…
Anyway bought WETA’s art book from the movie and can’t stop looking at the pictures

Tintin was badass and awesome.
*spoilers*
Loved the animation and mo cap and sweet jebus .. the scenes with the plane and motorbike and Sir Francis Haddock vs Red Rackham and the crane fight at the end…
Most of all I loved how un-modern the whole movie felt, it’s a classic adventure at heart, perfectly paced with no padding. It’s technically a film for teenagers/kids but has enough balls to throw in a very un-PC joke, a character getting shot through the door getting multiple wounds (a true whoa! moment) and keep Haddock’s alcoholism intact (and be the source of most of the movie’s humour). You really don’t see movies like this is cinema these days. It’s say it’s also perfect movie adaptation - because it’s definitely recognisably TINTIN even with all the plots of different books mixed together, has all the adventure and excitement of the source material but it’s also bares a very strong mark of it’s director, it’s unmistakeably a classic Spielberg movie. In fact I worry a bit about Peter Jackson’s sequel because this one was so good on pretty much every level.
All the characters are great, Andy Serkis was wonderful as Haddock - which was to be expected really - but Jamie Bell as Tintin was fantastic as well. Snowy gives all the K9 sidekicks a run for their money and Daniel Craig was awesome as Red Rackham/Sakharine (I love a classic mastermind, these day villains all seem to have a ruined childhood or some other mommy issues, but Sakharine is a magnificent bastard who seeks vengeance and also has a badass falcon and excellent fashion taste).
Most visually impressive scene - for me - The Unicorn blowing up and the rain of gold falling from the sky. Anyway most of the ship/sea scenes looked so real you could just insert them into a live action movie and no one would notice.
